Reverend Johnny L. Henderson

A native of Ware Shoals, South Carolina, Reverend Johnny L. Henderson has yielded to the call of ministry and is a willing vessel to God and the body of Christ at Ebenezer Baptist Church, Virginia Beach, VA. Understanding the responsibility of being a servant of Jesus Christ, he has purposed himself to be used by God without question.

Having been reared in the church by parents who were involved intimately in ministry, he was trained to seek first the Kingdom of God. Immediately following high school graduation, he answered the call of duty in 1995 and served honorably for 20 years in the United States Navy and retired in June 2015.

Reverend Henderson joined Ebenezer Baptist Church in 2009 after moving to Virginia Beach from San Diego, CA and has been a servant to the body of Christ by serving in music ministry as a member of the Praise & Worship team, the Unity Choir, and the Male Chorus. He soon began assisting with facilitating New Members classes shortly after he joined Ebenezer’s Minister’s Training program in the spring of 2014. Under the direction and mentorship of former Pastor Terron Rodgers he was trained on the responsibilities of ministry; on May 22, 2016 he preached his initial sermon and received full licensure to preach the Gospel.

On Saturday September 26, 2020. Reverend Henderson was selected by the members of Little Zion Missionary Baptist Church to become its new pastor. On Sunday, October 4, he began his pastorate at Little Zion MBC. He is a 2018 graduate of Regent University in Virginia Beach, and is currently enrolled in the Master of Divinity program in the School of Divinity at Regent University. Reverend Henderson was ordained on February 24, 2019 at Ebenezer Baptist Church in Virginia Beach by Pastor R. Perez Gatling. He previously served as Associate Pastor at Ebenezer Baptist Church.
